Getting Set Up - Light Account & Activating the Light Phone
When you open your new Light Phone and boot it for the first time, you will be prompted to connect to Wifi or insert an active SIM, this is so the phone can update to the latest software.
You will also need to activate your Light Account on the phone. If you ordered your Light Phone II from our website, you already have an account with that email, which you can login with when prompted. You have the option to create a new account too.
Inserting a SIM
The Light Phone II needs an active and compatible nano SIM card.

To insert the SIM, find the SIM pin provided in the packaging below the charging cable. Insert the pin to the SIM slot on the left side of the phone. You will feel the SIM tray eject, pull the SIM tray out. Insert the SIM into the SIM tray, noting the notch on the top left of the SIM. Return the SIM tray to the Light Phone, and it's ready.
It uses a black & white E-ink screen, unique for a cell phone. This screen does not emit blue light when displaying information, and it can be easily read in direct sunlight, unlike any smartphone. The E-ink screen requires "refreshes" between different pages to clear the screen. These refreshes flash the screen between black and white, removing the previous information. Sometimes you can notice subtle ghosting of the previous screen. We've come to love the E-ink screen and its unique properties.
There is a screen light for being able to view the phone at night.
Dashboard Website - Importing Contacts & Tools
The Light Phone II is managed through our Dashboard website.
Toolbox Menu & Settings
The menu of the Light Phone is your toolbox. The large center button on the right side of the phone opens the toolbox menu. You can click this button from any screen to easily navigate to different tools, the settings, or return to the home screen with a second click.
The Light Phone II comes pre-installed with a basic alarm.
Future Tools & Update
The phone will automatically receive periodic updates that are wireless. The updates will include performance optimizations, new features, settings, tools or bug fixes. All future tools that we will continue to roll out will always be optional, you choose whether to add them to your phone.
