Unfortunately the Light Phone II is not very repairable.
The Light Phone II is a very customized phone, with many unique parts created specifically for this device to be able to fit everything into such a small form factor with the design we achieved. Repair shops will not have the parts, tools, or expertise required to repair many things on the phone, including the glass screen module. The glass screen module in particular, combining the e-ink screen, touch screen, screen light and final matte glass, requires special tooling to build. If the screen is broken, it would require an entire new screen module.
If you have broken your screen and would like to have it replaced, we can offer a discounted replacement device, and we will then take your returned phone and refurbish (or recycle if critically damaged) at our factory in Suzhou, China.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to learn about our replacement policies.
We aspire to create tools, often which costs tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars, to be able to repair phones for users locally and in a timely fashion, but at our current scale it is not yet a feasible possibility. In studying our phones carbon footprint for our sustainability report, we learned that improving repairability in future products will ensure as long of a lifespan as possible for each device we build.
