Calendar tool is a simple scheduling and reminders tool. It can sync with external calendars, making it even easier to manage your day to day. Set alerts settings for upcoming events, or create new events from the phone itself which sync across your other devices.
How to Install the Calendar Tool
To install the Calendar tool, first ensure your phone is running the latest software version (at least v356). Then sign into the Dashboard website, click Phone, Toolbox and then the (+) to add a new tool. Click "Calendar" and confirm installation.
Default Light Calendar
By default an internal calendar is created for your account on your Light Phone’s Calendar tool. This is calendar is called Light. You can create events for just your Light Phone II using this calendar. If you’d like you can also connect a variety of external calendars with the Calendar tool as well.
How to Sync External Calendars:
Using the dashboard website you can sync external calendars to the Calendar tool. From the toolbox, click Calendar > Add Calendar to view the options for:
Connecting Apple/iCloud Calendars
NOTE: Currently shared/group Google calendars are not yet supported. We will continue to explore ways to support more calendar platforms like Outlook or Fastmail. Proton mail may not be possible because of their encryption.
Notes on Calendar Syncing:
-By default, external calendars sync with the Light Calendar tool every 30 mins, looking for any updates to events from external calendars. There is not a way to disable this syncing currently.
-To force a manual sync, open the Calendar tool, click the Settings icon, and then press "Manual Sync Now", which will force a sync of all calendars.
-In the rare chance that a sync is pushed while you are editing an event details, the changes may be lost and you will be returned to the day view as that event ID has now changed. This can be annoying, but ensures a smooth sync experience between external calendars and the Calendar tool. Thanks for understanding.
Notes on Alerts for Events:
The Calendar tool shares the same ringtone as the Alarm tool; these are called "Alerts". You can change this in Settings > Notifications > Alerts (Calendar/Alarm).
In Calendar tool settings you can also override the notification setting with the following options:
No Calendar Alerts: No alert displayed, no sound, no vibrate
Silent: Alert displayed on screen, no sound, no vibrate
Vibrate Only: Alert displayed on screen, no sound, but will vibrate
On: Uses the default Alerts sound + on screen notification
-If an external calendar event has multiple alerts, the calendar tool will only use the alert closest to the time of the event. The tool does not support multiple alerts at this time.
-The Calendar tool does not support alerts over 48 hours in advance of an event. If an synced event has an alert over 48 hours in advance, it will read “Alert not supported”.
-Sometimes external calendars have settings to automatically add alerts to events; for example the default for Google calendar is to add an alert. You can tweak these settings in your external calendar's settings.
How to Remove Synced Calendars:
If you'd like to remove one specific synced calendar, open the Light Phone II Calendar tool on the device and click the Settings icon. Then "Remove Calendar" and select the calendar you'd like to un-sync.
You can remove all synced calendars by either removing the tool from the dashboard website, or logging out of your Light Account.
Troubleshooting
-If you create an event from the Light Phone and are not seeing it sync to your external calendars, you need to confirm that the event was created for the correct Calendar on the tool and you also may need to refresh that external calendar to force it to update any recent changes.
